A freak neck injury in high school ended my football career and started my music career. I have always had a love of music, and the guitar became a perfect outlet for that. My parents wouldn't send me to guitar lessons, so I taught myself how to play. I played in numerous bands throughout high school and had a great time doing it. My first band of note was Vertigo, followed by Barphyte - both which received a lot of acclaim and released CDs. After the birth of my son, who was diagnosed with autism, I took an eight-year hiatus. In the five years since my return to the music scene, I've been a part of four bands: Mending the Broken; Tower Nine; Diamond Hyde; and Burn the Gates. However, juggling too many bands proved to be too much of a chore with a family, so I settled into Burn the Gates. My bandmates are my best friends and are the most talented musicians I've had the privilege of playing with. Any time I write a song, I know I don't have to worry about any parts other than my own because it's like we share a brain. It's an amazing feeling to mesh with a great group of musicians.
